    Veronica Miller

    Dear Candle Loving Friend,

The biggest problem with starting your own candle business is just that – getting started.

Perhaps you make candles and a friend made an admiring comment, perhaps you heard someone talking about how great a business candles are these days, maybe you just brainstormed ideas for a business you’d enjoy and came up with candles

...but whichever way it happened there it was – you thought how much you would like to run your own candle business and from there the idea grew.

You’re now into fantasy mode – you start thinking about how great the rewards would be – working from home, not having to go to an office and be at everyone’s beck and call. Having the freedom, and the time to do what you want when you want.

The pride you would feel in making something, building it all up from scratch, the pleasure you would bring people with your fantastic products – warm lights, beautiful scents …

And then just when you’re mentally booking your cruise and imagining the admiring and envious looks your friends will give you when you tell them what you’re up to …

YOU SHOOT YOURSELF IN THE FOOT AND GIVE UP BEFORE YOU’VE EVEN STARTED!

The nagging voice of self-doubt creeps in – you turn your beautiful vision of how good life could be into a nightmare!

You start worrying about the detail and thinking all the negatives: how am I going to do this? What if people don’t like the candles? I don’t want to give out my home phone number to people. I don’t know how to sell. Where am I going to find supplies? You obsess over what colour your business cards should be.

Before you’ve lifted a finger to do anything practical towards the first stages of starting your business you’ve already crashed and burned. And your beautiful dream crumbles to dust …

Why do most people give up? The sad reality is that 90% of people who start a business fail. It’s just a fact, 9 out of ten people who have a go at this don’t succeed. And they have typically sunk a minimum of $1000 into it, which they never recoup.

I talk to so many people on a daily basis who would like to do something different – they’re everywhere!

But have any of these people DONE anything about their dreams?

No, and the sad truth is they probably won’t because most people don’t. and however they wrap that up – what ever excuses they make for themselves – time, money, if only… the reason usually comes down to a simple truth they don’t want to admit even to themselves… they’re afraid.

This fear is completely and utterly RATIONAL.

It is also completely and utterly IRRELEVANT.

We expect too much of ourselves. The odds are that you never had any kind of training or experience whatsoever in how to run a business, never mind specifically a candle business. You may have done helpful bits here and there – maybe you know some book-keeping or have done a bit of marketing. Do you think you therefore know everything you need to know about how to start and run a successful candle business from end to end with no mistakes?

    Of course not …

Just because we're adults doesn't mean we know everything we need to run a great business from scratch with no help.

Most people who start a business don’t have any help, make mistakes, don’t foresee every problem, don’t know how to do everything straight off, but they start a business and learn by trial and error - which is frustrating, time consuming and costly.

I know because I run two businesses. Yes, getting started was by far the hardest part. And no, although I did plenty of planning I didn’t have every detail ironed out in advance.

I have worked a lot in corporate consultancy. I have made a lot of money for some of the biggest names in business (people like IBM, British Telecom, ING, Walmart).

I have helped them develop new projects, sort out problems and increase efficiency. I have cut costs from anywhere between $200,000 a year to $3.5million a year. I have worked out whole new ways of managing projects worth up to $27,000,000. I worked out how we were going to measure, track and demonstrate value for a $1,740,000,000 government contract.

But I didn’t start out this way, so I had to go out and learn everything I needed to know from other sources.

I got my degree in Economics. More importantly I was desperate to go out and get my first job and get real office experience. In the area I lived in at the time it just wasn’t that easy to get even a basic office admin role with no experience, qualifications or contacts, so I took any job I could get and used it as learning experience.

I finally got my big break as a Business Analyst for a local charity. I loved that job! I did everything, from writing a policy manual, to efficiency studies, to getting my first taste of consultancy work

And from then there was no stopping me – I got to work in bigger and bigger organizations getting bigger and better roles. All the way up to head of a high-end software production team. And that was my last paid job as an employee, because from there I decided to start my own consultancy business.

In my last couple of consulting roles I got to help my client pitch for a $1,280,000,000 contract and I looked after the finances and completion schedule for a $100,000,000 project.

So I know what it is like to start from nothing, with no background and no clue and have to go out and work it all out for yourself.

And although over the years I have got to work in all these huge companies on big projects, I’ve also done a lot of work with smaller companies, and one-person start-ups.

I just love this because I’ve been there myself, having to work from every viewpoint and be versatile enough to take every role and job no matter how small or large. There is no feeling like the satisfaction you get from creating something right from the ground out of nothing.

This is why I like working with people like you – people who are just starting out. There’s much more of a buzz from seeing the great success of an individual who has started from nothing and taken it to something tangible you can hold in your hand than seeing yet another corporate spreadsheet.

But it can be difficult. When you’re dealing with major corporations they already have a structure to work in and practically limitless resources. They already have something to build on – no project starts truly from scratch. And they can usually afford to make some mistakes.

In the smaller business there are lots of errors that can be made. And many of these are potentially fatal. One poor choice can make the difference between making a profit, or not surviving to the next month.

So I think I understand some of the concerns and problems you’re facing as a prospective owner of your own start-up candle business, because I went through every single one of them myself.

I have twelve years experience. I have the education. Even to this day I invest every year in further professional training. I have worked through all the trial and error on myself and a number of my clients, so here’s what I’m going to show you.

From talking to and working with a number of individuals and small businesses over the years I realized just how bad some of the information given to people who want to start their own business is.

This is the kind of information you want to avoid:

    • Information that is over-whelming. The majority is not designed for individuals starting a candle business, a lot of it is for major corporations. Much is in little bits here and there, loads isn’t relevant, plenty is out of date, and some of it is just down-right WRONG.

    • Keep away from information that is vague and all-purpose. Starting a home based business like making candles has little in common with starting a café, or a gym.

    • Most information is aimed at people who are looking to start big – going on about premises, employment law, and how to raise start-up capital. There is very little about how to start a small, one-person operation.

    • Steer clear of information which ONLY tells you about all the mistakes you might make WITHOUT ever giving you a clear strategy for avoiding specific problems and telling you how to position your business for success from the get-go. They often tend to assume you will fail, rather than helping you to find ways to succeed.

To help you avoid wasting your time wading through this awful stuff, I will show you:

5 steps to Start – making it fast and easy

Your time, money and mental energy are precious. You don’t have all day to potter around your business. You need to know the top 5 things to do and in what order – literally a roadmap to success, to avoid wasting time on activities that won’t give you results.

You don’t want to end up six months down the line and find out that you still haven’t got a working candle business or worse – you’re a few thousand dollars in debt with nothing to show for it.

Knowing exactly what to do, when to do it and in what order means:

starting a candle making business you save a lot of wasted time
starting a candle making business you are as productive as you can be
starting a candle making business you get it right from the get-go

Save $ 5073.01 in one week!

The last person I spoke to who had tried going it alone with no help spent $5,073.01 in three months and made $64.52 in sales before she gave up in disgust and got a job.

You could go to college and get a degree for three years at a conservative cost of $45,000. You could work in industry for twelve years like I did and learn the hard way. You could spend $5,000-$12,500 every single year on professional development like I do. After 12 years and about $135,000 you’ll be ready.

Or you could just give it a go on your own time and money for six months and see what happens. Like the girl who ended up $5,073.01 down.

Or you could hire a personal business coach/mentor to sit over your shoulder and show you what to do. Rates are anywhere from $500 to $20,000 a day depending on who you hire.

Or you could just cut to the chase, get started immediately, save a tonne of lost time and money on trial and error, cut guesswork and tap into all this knowledge and expertise. It will be like hiring your own top-end personal business mentor to guide you by the hand, but at just a tiny fraction of the cost.

You can pick up my complete guide on how to start a home-based candle business for $67 $47 $37 - January special.

Which is a pretty good deal when you consider the alternatives above. But I know when you read it you’ll think it’s worth hundreds of dollars to you – probably closer to the $135,000 I have spent on my professional education.

But I want you to be completely satisfied and utterly confident you’re getting great value, so there’s more:
